Sohyan Bhaak, the charismatic designer behind 'Post December,' describes the philosophy behind her choice of name as the idea of the thirteenth month, which only exists in dreams or memories. She completed a Masters of Arts at the Kent Institute of Art & Design in the UK. After working in fashion in both London and Seoul, she started her label, Post December, in 2009, driven by her passion to create something of her own. She has since been participating in Seoul Fashion Week and ‘Who’s Next’ at Porte de Versailles in Paris. Her Fall/Winter 2014 collection, named "Through the Never" in ode to Metallica, focuses on the motif of overlap, creating original patterns and styles on dualized fabrics. Designed with the skull pattern dedicated to Metallica, her collections appeal to the strong inner voice.
Post December has named its Spring/Summer 2015 collection Splash, signifying the action of sharply and pointedly cutting and slitting. Bhaak was inspired by an exhibition held at the Museum of Art & Design (MAD) in New York City and named her collection after this show. She believes the art of cutting and slashing can have both a destructive and healing connotation, and has attempted to represent these juxtaposing actions in her Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
